Brendan Phinny was a competitive amateur racer with a Racer Rating of 2,622, placing him in the club racing bracket; this level encompasses front-of-field competitors in regional and club series who race against semi-professionals and professionals rather than among them. His career spanned three seasons from 2007 to 2009, with four starts recorded across the SKUSA SuperNationals, where he registered two wins and two podiums. He finished on average in fourth place across his classified starts.[1]

Phinny's record included isolated strong results against much more established drivers. He finished ahead of Jamie McMurray, an FIA Gold graded professional; Gustavo Menezes, an FIA Gold graded former champion; and Memo Gidley, an FIA Bronze graded former champion. These victories came in single race instances rather than as part of a sustained pattern, but they demonstrated occasional competitiveness against drivers operating at a level well above his own. His most recent activity came in 2009, after which he retired from racing.
