Charles Chi raced in two national multiclass championships in the United States, competing in single-driver and prototype machinery across six starts between 2004 and 2018. He was a Bronze-graded amateur driver, the entry level within FIA's endurance racing classification. His racing career was split between the PCA Club Racing series, where he drove Porsches in the GTC3 class, and the IMSA Prototype Challenge, where he campaigned an LMP3 prototype for Five Miles Out Racing.[1]
Chi's indexed record comprises three starts in PCA Club Racing in 2004, where he finished 26th in the championship standings, and three starts in the IMSA Prototype Challenge in 2018. Over those six starts he completed his career in domestic club and professional racing.[2]
In the IMSA Prototype Challenge, Chi raced regularly against Kenton Koch, a Gold-graded established professional who won the LMP3 title in 2017 and has since taken multiple national championships in GT racing. Chi finished ahead of Koch twice across their meetings. He also faced Zacharie Robichon, a Silver-graded established professional and 2021 IMSA GTD champion with extensive international endurance racing experience, though he usually finished behind Robichon in their encounters.
