David Askew is a retired American racing driver with a brief career in sportscar racing. He holds an FIA Bronze grading, which places him as an amateur competitor within GT and endurance racing. His record spans two seasons from 2016 to 2017, with five starts across two series; he recorded two podium finishes and no wins, averaging a finishing position of eleventh place.[1]
Askew's competitive record shows him consistently outpaced by the professional-level drivers he encountered. In the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in 2016, he achieved both of his podium finishes across two starts for DXDT Racing. The following year he moved to IMSA Pilot Challenge, where he made three starts without reaching the podium. Across his shared races with recurring rivals, Askew finished ahead of Stevan McAleer, an FIA Gold–graded professional, on one occasion; however, he was outfinished in three contests each by multiple Silver-graded professionals including Spencer Pumpelly and Eric Foss, both series champions. His single victories in head-to-head comparisons came against mid-field competitors, and his overall record against the stronger fields he faced underscores his standing as an amateur gentleman driver.[2]
