Jeff Burton is a Bronze-graded amateur competing in national multiclass endurance and sprint racing in the United States. He races GT3 cars for Regulator Racing in GT World Challenge America's Pro-Am class, a series mixing amateur and semi-professional drivers with graded professionals in shared-car racing, and also competes in GT America's single-driver SRO3 class in the same machinery. His primary career was a 22-season run in NASCAR Xfinity from 1988 to 2009, almost entirely on oval tracks for Richard Childress Racing and other teams, where he accumulated 27 wins and 68 podiums across 306 starts.[1]
Burton's Xfinity record placed him alongside professionals and champions; he regularly raced Kenny Wallace, a 1994 Xfinity champion, and Joe Nemechek, an entry-level professional with over 430 Xfinity starts, on equal terms. His most notable scalps were repeat finishes ahead of Denny Hamlin, now an elite professional and 2025 Cup Series champion, and Tony Stewart, an established professional with 94 Xfinity starts. His career in single-seater racing closed in 2009 with a 15th-place finish in the Xfinity championship standings; he then stepped back from regular competition for nearly a decade.[2]
Since returning to racing in 2018, Burton has competed sporadically in multiclass machinery. A four-start NASA campaign produced two podiums; since 2023 he has made 31 starts in GT World Challenge America, taking five wins and 13 podiums in the Pro-Am field. His current work combines endurance racing in a shared GT3 with occasional SRO3 starts. In May 2026, Burton was elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
