Chuck Bown was a professional NASCAR Xfinity driver who raced from 1986 to 1999. He competed almost entirely on oval tracks, logging 187 starts over a 14-year career that culminated in the 1990 NASCAR Xfinity championship with Hensley Motorsports. He drove for HVP Motorsports throughout his indexed record.[1]
Bown won eleven races and finished on the podium 28 times across his Xfinity career. His championship came in 1990 at Hensley Motorsports. He remained active in the series through 1999, when he completed his final campaign in its 16-round season and placed 34th in the championship standings. His last indexed racing came that year.[2]
His record placed him among regular competitors who had reached entry-level professional status. He finished ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr., then an established professional and two-time Xfinity champion, on four occasions, and beat Elliott Sadler six times. Against his most frequent opponents, the Xfinity regulars Steve Grissom and Tommy Houston, both entry-level professionals with far more extensive careers in that series, Bown ran closely matched.
