Tony Stewart is an elite professional competing in American single-seater and stock car racing. He raced primarily in NASCAR Xfinity from 1996 through 2013 for Richard Childress Racing, alongside a concurrent IndyCar career in the mid-1990s and early 2000s. He has returned to NASCAR competition in 2026 with an entry in the Craftsman Truck Series for Kaulig Racing, while also competing part-time in NHRA Top Fuel drag racing.[1]

Stewart took 14 wins and 30 podiums across 121 starts in his indexed record. In NASCAR Xfinity he scored 11 wins from 94 starts, nearly all of them on oval tracks, and spent 18 seasons in that series. His IndyCar career ran from 1996 to 2001, where he raced exclusively on ovals and took 3 wins from 26 starts. His most recent NASCAR Xfinity appearance in 2013 produced a victory, and his 2026 Truck Series entry marked a return to competition after a gap of more than a decade.[2]

Stewart ran regularly against a pair of established professionals in Matt Kenseth, a former Cup Series champion with extensive Xfinity experience, and Jason Keller, a semi-professional oval racer with over 500 Xfinity starts; against both he maintained competitive parity. He has finished ahead of elite professionals including Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin, a four-time Cup Series champion. His longest spell came driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, an operation that has fielded 58 drivers across the database and holds 144 wins.
