Dillon Dexter is a competitive amateur racing driver, rated 2,715. This level describes the front of club racing and regional competition; drivers who hold a real competition licence and post real results, but against fields that do not include established professionals. Dexter's single season of racing came in 2017, when he contested six rounds of the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin for Copeland Motorsports, averaging a finish of P17.8 across the field.[1]
Dexter raced primarily against established professionals and some semi-professionals graded by the FIA. In five shared races against Patrick Gallagher, the series champion that year and a much stronger driver rated in the elite range, Dexter finished behind him every time. The same pattern held against Todd Lamb, a professional competitor, and against multiple FIA-graded rivals including Ashton Harrison, Bryan Ortiz, and Nathanial Sparks, all of whom out-finished him consistently. Dexter did manage single victories over four different drivers across the season; the strongest were semi-professionals Patrick Wilmot, Brian Henderson, and Robert Stout, all graded FIA Silver.
Dexter has since retired from racing. His career comprised only the six races in 2017 and produced no wins or podium finishes; he classified in each outing but did not progress beyond the entry level of competitive racing.
