Ed Wheatley is a club-level driver with a Racer Rating of 668, placing him among developing and club competitors; this rating reflects occasional racing against real competition rather than a sustained career at a competitive level. Between 2006 and 2022, Wheatley accumulated 15 starts across two series, with no wins or podium finishes. His most recent activity was in 2006 NASA racing, where he finished 31st in his final three races.[1]
Wheatley's head-to-head record against his most frequent rivals tells a consistent story of outpacing at the margins. He finished ahead of Jody Miller twice in eight shared races and beat Lukas Pank, the 2024 International GT GT4.0 champion, once in ten encounters; he also finished ahead of Pippa Mann, an FIA Silver graded driver, twice. However, his overall pattern against the broader field was one of consistent losses. He was shut out entirely by James Hamman across 12 races, Robert Wisen across 9 races, Brady Behrman across 7 races, and Javier Ripoll across 9 races. Against this peer group, Wheatley averaged a finishing position of 10.1, indicating regular mid-pack results rather than competitive pace.
The bulk of Wheatley's racing came in International GT, where 12 of his 15 starts occurred in 2022 with no points-scoring finishes. His earlier 2006 NASA campaign in Miata racing produced similar results. This is a career distinguished primarily by participation in racing rather than by competitive success; the occasional finish ahead of stronger drivers represents isolated results rather than evidence of underlying pace.
