Ettore Chimeri was a Venezuelan racing driver, born in Italy, who made a single Formula 1 appearance for Maserati in 1960. He competed in only one Grand Prix, finishing 28th, and never scored a point or mounted a challenge for a podium finish. His entry into Formula 1 came at a time when the championship was dominated by established European drivers; Maserati, the team fielding him, was in decline as a front-line constructor and would cease Formula 1 operations that season.[1]
Chimeri holds the distinction of being the first driver from Venezuela to start a Formula 1 Grand Prix. His racing career on record consists only of that single season and that solitary race. His Racer Rating of 2,937 reflects a driver whose competitive experience was minimal and at amateur or club-racing level by contemporary standards. After 1960 he retired from racing.[2]
