F Russell Strate is a developing amateur racer competing in SCCA Majors, a national multiclass sprint championship that runs twenty-five classes on the same track in the United States. He races in the F5, F6, and FE2 classes; the F6 and FE2 fields run open-wheel machinery powered by 600cc motorcycle and snowmobile engines, and Mazda-powered spec Formula Enterprises cars respectively. Over six seasons from 2021 to 2026, Strate has made 31 starts, including a small number in SCCA Regionals in 2022.[1]
Strate has finished outside the points in the SCCA Regionals championship. In SCCA Majors, he races regularly against semi-professional and competitive amateur drivers; he typically finishes behind both Charles Russell, a semi-professional regular across 44 SCCA Majors starts, and Steve Whitston, a competitive amateur who won the 2024 SCCA Runoffs FV title and has logged 73 SCCA Majors starts. Strate has beaten Russell once and Paul Schneider, another semi-professional with 34 SCCA Majors starts, once each.[2]
