Smith competed in American Endurance Racing across three seasons from 2016 to 2018, starting ten races and winning two of them while finishing on the podium in six. Smith's record against his regular rivals tells a mixed story. He held a winning head-to-head record against Laura Hayes, a FIA Bronze-graded driver, finishing ahead of her in five of seven shared races; he also beat FIA Bronze driver Aristotle Balogh in four races, though on limited occasions. However, he finished behind Alex Rubenstein, a three-time American Endurance Racing Class 4 champion, in four of six shared races. Against Donnie Isley and Kale Fortenberry, drivers at his own competitive level, Smith won the head-to-head battle, but he was outfinished by Rob Branthover in three of five encounters.
