Fred Ferguson was a semi-professional racing in BMW CCA Club Racing, a national multiclass championship run in the United States. He raced BMWs in the JS and Spec E36 classes across four seasons from 2005 to 2008, competing in a field that mixed amateur and semi-professional drivers with graded professionals on the same grid.[1]
Ferguson won 16 races from 21 starts and finished on the podium in 20 of those outings. He took three consecutive BMW CCA Club Racing class championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In his final season in 2008, he remained competitive with two wins and three podiums across three rounds before finishing seventh in the championship standings.[2]
Against the regular opposition he faced, Ferguson typically finished ahead of developing and club-level drivers such as David Allaway and Eric Heinrich. He also outpaced semi-professional competitor Michael Gilbert on two occasions and beat club driver Jason Briedis twice over the course of his career.
