Joseph Tobin is a club-level driver racing in national multiclass championships across the United States. He competes primarily in SCCA Majors and SCCA Regionals, driving spec 1990–2005 Mazda MX-5 Miatas in the SM class, and has also raced in PCA Club Racing and NASA's Spec Miata class.[1]
Tobin has accumulated 50 starts over eight indexed seasons from 2012 to 2025. His record spans PCA Club Racing, where he took one win and six podiums across 16 starts between 2012 and 2014, and the SCCA's national programs, where he has contested 21 SCCA Majors rounds with two podiums, nine SCCA Regionals starts with one win and four podiums, and three NASA outings in 2022 that all produced podium finishes. His most recent recorded start was the 2023 SCCA Runoffs.[2]
In the multiclass fields he contests regularly, Tobin finishes most often behind entry-level professional Charles Mactutus and Danny Steyn, a four-time SCCA Majors STL champion who has run over 100 starts in that series. He has finished ahead of established professional Matthew Payne, an FIA Gold driver with 99 Supercars Championship starts, three times, and beaten 2025 GT4 America Pro-Am champion Sam Craven once.
