Barroso is an entry-level professional competing in national solo sprint racing across two series. He races Mazda MX-5 spec cars in SCCA multiclass championships and, since 2024, has driven for Spark Performance in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, a single-class national series that spans the United States and Canada. His primary work has been in SCCA Majors and Regionals, where he competes in spec SM and SMX classes against fields mixing amateurs with graded professionals.[1]
Across seven seasons from 2020 to 2026, Barroso has taken 21 podiums from 106 starts, including seven wins. His record in SCCA Majors amounts to three wins and eight podiums in 55 starts; in SCCA Regionals he has won four times and podiumed 12 times in 27 starts. The Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup has yielded one podium from 20 starts over two seasons. He has made four attempts at the SCCA Runoffs, the sport's national championship meet, without a podium finish.[2]
