🇫🇷 Sebastien Bourdais

Sébastien Bourdais is a professional racing driver competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Cadillac Hertz Team Jota in the Hypercar category. He holds an FIA Platinum grade, the highest classification for endurance and sportscar racing. Over 23 seasons from 1998 to the present, Bourdais has contested 315 starts across single-seater, open-wheel and endurance series, accumulating 22 wins and 59 podiums.[1]

His record spans multiple racing disciplines. In International Formula 3000 between 2000 and 2002, he took four wins and twelve podiums in 34 starts for Super Nova Racing Limited. He contested 27 Formula 1 races for Toro Rosso in 2008 and early 2009, competing against a field including Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg; he finished ahead of both drivers in isolated instances across those meetings. His primary career has been in American open-wheel racing; in IndyCar from 2005 to 2021, he recorded 152 starts with Newman/Haas Racing, taking six wins and thirteen podiums, though he raced primarily on road and street courses, contesting ovals in less than half his starts. In IMSA WeatherTech sportscar racing since 2014, Bourdais has been more successful, with ten wins and 28 podiums in 65 starts for Tower Motorsports. He has also competed in the WEC since 2012, where he earned one win and four podiums across 28 starts. His current standing in the 2026 Mazda MX-5 Cup sits at 20th in the championship with two rounds raced so far.[2]

In the regular IndyCar field, Bourdais has raced against established professionals including Scott Dixon, a five-time IndyCar champion, finishing behind him consistently, and Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2012 champion, with whom he has been closely matched. His IMSA record places him among the stronger drivers in a series that has fielded elite professionals including Álex Palou, who currently drives for the same Cadillac Racing operation.
