Sébastien Bourdais is a French professional racing driver who built his reputation in American open-wheel competition before moving into sports car racing. He rose to prominence in the Champ Car World Series, where he won four consecutive championships between 2004 and 2007, establishing himself as one of the most successful drivers in the history of American open-wheel racing with 37 race wins to his name. His performances in Champ Car earned him a move to Formula One, where he competed in 27 races for Toro Rosso during 2008 and into the start of 2009. He subsequently returned to American open-wheel racing, competing in the IndyCar Series from 2011 through 2021 and continuing to build on his open-wheel legacy.[1]
