🇫🇷 Sebastien Bourdais

Sébastien Bourdais is an established professional and FIA Platinum–graded driver competing across multiple series in open-wheel and sports car racing. He is currently active in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup and has spent the last decade primarily in endurance racing with DragonSpeed and Cadillac Hertz Team Jota in IMSA WeatherTech and the FIA World Endurance Championship. His career spans 23 seasons from 1998 to the present, totalling 318 starts across a range of championships.[1]

Bourdais won the International Formula 3000 title in 2002 while racing for Super Nova Racing, taking four wins in that series. His Formula 1 entry came in 2008 and 2009 with Toro Rosso across 27 starts. In American open-wheel racing, he spent 17 seasons in IndyCar from 2005 to 2021 with Newman/Haas Racing, accumulating six wins and 13 podiums from 152 starts; his record there included competition on both oval and road circuits. His most productive period has been in sports car racing, where he has taken 10 wins and 28 podiums in 66 IMSA WeatherTech starts with DragonSpeed since 2014, and one win in 30 WEC appearances for Cadillac Hertz Team Jota. He also contested the FIA GT Championship in the early 2000s, taking a win across five starts.[2]

In IndyCar, Bourdais regularly raced against Scott Dixon, a six-time series champion, and generally finished behind him; he was closely matched with 2012 IndyCar champion Ryan Hunter-Reay across multiple seasons. He finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton twice in their two Formula 1 meetings in 2008, when Hamilton was in his debut season, and beat Nico Rosberg four times across their races together in the same period. In his most recent indexed activity, Bourdais has taken two starts in the 2026 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup and currently sits 28th in the championship standings.
