Jeremy Butz is a semi-professional racing in a national solo sprint multiclass series. He competes primarily in SCCA Regionals, where he drives spec Mazda MX-5 Miatas in SM class and production-based tuner cars in STL and T4 classes, and races the same series' national majors and Runoffs championships. He has been active since 2017.[1]
Butz has built his record chiefly in SCCA Regionals over five seasons, taking 32 wins and 66 podiums from 101 starts. His record in the series' national Majors tier is substantially thinner; he has two wins and ten podiums from 57 starts across those six seasons. He won the 2026 SCCA Regionals championship. A single NASA Spec Miata appearance in 2017 and four SCCA Runoffs starts between 2021 and 2023 complete his record.[2]
In the multiclass fields he regularly races, Butz typically finishes ahead of John Hotz, a competitive amateur and 2023 SCCA Regionals SM champion, but behind him often enough that the head-to-head does not run decisively in either direction. Against Michael LaMaina, a club-level driver and 2023 SCCA Regionals T4 champion with more experience across the SCCA's tiers, Butz usually finishes ahead. He has beaten established professionals including Matthew Payne, an FIA Gold-graded driver with nearly a hundred Supercars Championship starts, and Connor Zilisch, an FIA Gold professional and 2025 NASCAR Xfinity champion, though each appearance ahead of them came once across his career.
