George Abecassis was a British racing driver who competed in Formula 1 during the early 1950s. He made two starts for the HWM team in 1951 and 1952 but did not finish in the points in either outing. His highest result was a twenty-third place finish in 1952. The calibre of the grid at that time means these attempts came at a competitive level; however, his brief tenure in the series yielded no championship points and no progression to further Grand Prix appearances.[1]
Abecassis is better remembered as co-founder of the HWM Formula One team than for his own driving record. The marque, which fielded fourteen drivers across its history including notable competitors such as Stirling Moss, never won a Grand Prix during its time in the sport. His career remains modest in scope, confined to two Formula 1 entries across a single season of active competition before retirement from racing.[2]
