James Clay is an entry-level professional driver racing in national multiclass endurance championships for BimmerWorld Racing, one of the stronger teams in the field. He competes in GT4 America, where he drives a GT4 car in the Am class, and has raced IMSA Pilot Challenge in its production-car classes. Graded FIA Bronze, he sits at the amateur end of sportscar racing's classification system. His primary success has come in GT4 America, where he holds two championships with BimmerWorld: 2023 and 2026.[1]

Across 21 seasons on record since 2004, Clay has taken 25 wins and 58 podiums in 128 starts. His record in BMW CCA Club Racing, where he races various BMW classes, runs to 10 wins and 20 podiums in 30 starts in solo sprint racing. In endurance racing, his 45 starts in IMSA Pilot Challenge from 2016 to 2021 yielded one win and eight podiums; his 40 starts in GT4 America since 2023 have brought 12 wins and 24 podiums, a sharp rise in consistency that underpinned his recent championships. He has also raced in American Endurance Racing, NASA, and the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, winning in the first two.[2]

The field in which Clay typically races mixes amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals. He regularly competes alongside Eric Foss, an entry-level professional and 2017 IMSA Pilot Challenge ST champion, and Jeff Mosing, a semi-professional and 2025 SVRA Group 8 champion, finishing closely matched with both. His strongest scalps include Chase Briscoe, an elite professional from 225 NASCAR Cup starts, beaten seven times, and Austin Cindric, an established professional with two NASCAR Xfinity titles, beaten three times. In his two active GT4 America seasons to date, he has claimed multiple race wins.
