James Murray races at club level in the SCCA Regionals, a national single-driver multiclass championship in which 25 classes share the track; he drives in the ITE class. He has also contested American Endurance Racing, a multiclass endurance series in which drivers share cars across multiple classes on a shared grid. His most recent activity is the 2025 SCCA Regionals season, where he has taken a win and four podiums from four rounds and sits fourth in the championship standings.[1]
Murray's racing record spans three seasons from 2019 to 2025, with seven starts across both series. His early endurance work in American Endurance Racing in 2019 produced two starts with no results. His indexed career gains definition from 2024 onwards in SCCA Regionals, where he has won once and taken five podiums in five starts, establishing himself as a front-runner in the ITE class at the regional level.[2]
In the field he contests most regularly, Murray finishes ahead of a developing-level driver in Phil Magney but typically behind Matthew Lawson, a club-level regular with significantly more SCCA Regionals starts. He has beaten a professional-level driver, Aaron Jeansonne, once; Jeansonne races extensively in Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, NASA, and Porsche Carrera Cup North America at a considerably higher competitive tier.
