John Barna raced single-seater and production-car classes in American club and national motorsport series between 2011 and 2017. He competed primarily in PCA Club Racing, where he drove Porsches across the F, SP1 and SP2 classes, with shorter campaigns in NASA's 944 Cup class and a single entry in American Endurance Racing's Class Indy shared-car category. His racing was at a developing level within grids that mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals.[1]

Across seven seasons and 47 starts, Barna took one win and eight podiums, all but one of them in PCA Club Racing. His final indexed season was 2017, when he recorded a podium from five rounds and finished 66th in the championship standings. His most frequent opponents in PCA Club Racing were Allan Cohen and David Mann, both developing drivers with considerably more starts in the series; he was closely matched with each of them across multiple meetings.[2]

Barna occasionally finished ahead of more experienced drivers such as Hunt McMahon, a semi-professional with over 130 PCA Club Racing starts and endurance racing credentials, and Sean Gibbons, a competitive amateur with over 100 PCA Club Racing starts and a parallel career in GT4 America; these instances were isolated rather than establishing a pattern. His record shows a club-level racer who competed regularly against drivers at his own level and occasionally above it.
