🏳️ Julian Van der Watt

Julian Van der Watt is a competitive amateur driver rated 2,840, placing him at the front of club racing and the entry end of semi-professional competition. His record consists of two starts in the IMSA Pilot Challenge during 2019, both contested for JDC-Miller MotorSports. He finished thirty-second in his most recent outing and scored no wins or podiums across his IMSA campaign.[1]

Despite the brevity of his documented top-level racing career, Van der Watt showed competitive pace against established drivers in those two races. He finished ahead of Mason Filippi, Stephen Simpson and Harry Gottsacker, all FIA Silver graded professionals, as well as Ryan Eversley, an FIA Gold graded driver. These results suggest he was capable of running with semi-professional and professional company in a support series, though the sample size of two races makes it difficult to characterise this as a consistent pattern rather than isolated competitive moments.

Van der Watt's recent activity indicated in contemporaneous reporting suggests he continued racing in touring car competition in South Africa through 2025 and into 2026, though those results fall outside the scope of his formal record in this database. He remains retired from the IMSA Pilot Challenge as of 2019.
