🇨🇦 Stephen Simpson

Stephen Simpson is a professional endurance racing driver who raced across IMSA's national multiclass championships from 2014 to 2022. FIA Silver graded, he competed primarily in IMSA Pilot Challenge and IMSA WeatherTech, piloting production-based ST and TCR cars in the Pilot Challenge series and sharing prototype and GT machinery in the top-tier WeatherTech Championship. His main base was JDC-Miller Motorsports, which fielded him across 51 starts.[1]

Simpson's record spans 114 starts across three IMSA series, yielding three wins and 21 podiums. The bulk of his racing came in the six-season Pilot Challenge campaign, where he recorded one win and 15 podium finishes across 61 starts; he also competed at the WeatherTech level for eight seasons in 50 starts, taking one win and five podiums there. In the Prototype Challenge, a shorter effort, he won once from three starts. His final recorded season was 2022 in Pilot Challenge; his last WeatherTech entry came in 2021, when he started a single round.[2]

Simpson raced regularly against established competition across his career. His closest rival in terms of head-to-head was entry-level professional Roy Block, with whom he was closely matched through the Pilot Challenge series; he also faced established professional Renger van der Zande repeatedly in WeatherTech, though he typically finished behind him. Simpson occasionally beat stronger drivers; he finished ahead of Kyle Kirkwood, an elite professional and three-time Indy series champion, once in their shared races, and ahead of Sébastien Buemi, multiple WEC and Formula E champion and FIA Platinum graded, on two occasions.
