Ricky Taylor is an established professional sportscar driver competing in the IMSA WeatherTech championship and international endurance racing. His rating of 5,435 places him at the established professional level, the calibre of driver who secures full-time seats in top-tier categories and wins consistently against strong fields. The FIA grades him Platinum, its highest categorisation in sportscar and endurance racing and a designation reserved for full professionals.[1]

Taylor's record rests on five IMSA WeatherTech championships across prototype classes: back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017 in the P class, then three consecutive DPi championships from 2020 to 2022. Across his 96 IMSA starts he has recorded 21 wins and 45 podiums, an average finish of fifth across his career. His sustained competition has been against a cadre of elite sportscar drivers. Renger van der Zande and Pipo Derani, both rated at his level or above, are drivers he has faced repeatedly; against van der Zande, a 2016 IMSA champion, Taylor holds a 47–42 edge across 89 shared races, while his 38–35 record against Derani is equally competitive. Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr, both stronger-rated rivals and multiple IMSA champions, have dominated their head-to-head records against Taylor, with Nasr ahead 40–28 across 68 encounters. Taylor has also occasionally finished ahead of significantly stronger drivers such as Alex Palou, a four-time IndyCar champion, and Chase Elliott, though these results are isolated rather than patterns.[2]

In World Endurance Championship competition Taylor has made 17 appearances since 2013 with Cadillac WTR, recording a single podium and no wins. His broader career spans 115 starts across multiple series since 2006, yielding 21 wins and 46 podiums. He remains active in 2026, having competed in WEC and IMSA rounds including practice sessions at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in July.
