Oliver Martini is an established professional who raced single-seater formula cars in the late 1990s. He competed in Formula 3 Macau in 1997 and then spent two seasons in International Formula 3000 with Auto Sport Racing, a team that fielded established professionals including the Le Mans champion Tom Kristensen. Martini finished 24th in the 1999 International Formula 3000 championship standings.[1]
His record of 15 starts across those three seasons placed him among drivers competing at professional and semi-professional level. He raced wheel-to-wheel with Soheil Ayari and Stéphane Sarrazin, both established names in international single-seater racing; the three were closely matched. Martini finished ahead of the 1999 International Formula 3000 champion Nick Heidfeld once and beat Gonzalo Rodríguez, a driver with 27 International Formula 3000 starts, twice.[2]
