Justin Wilson is a competitive amateur driver whose rating of 1,639 places him in the club racing band; the level of regional and vintage competition where drivers hold real competition licences and achieve genuine results but do not compete regularly against full professionals. His career spans 18 seasons from 2003 to 2025 across multiple disciplines, though his standing has shifted significantly over that span. In the early years he was a professional open-wheel competitor; he started in Formula 1 in 2003 with Jaguar, contested open-wheel championships in Europe and North America through the following decade, and won three races in the IndyCar Series between 2008 and 2015 while sharing the grid regularly with multiple champions and elite-level drivers including Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Helio Castroneves and Graham Rahal. Against that company he typically finished behind them; his head-to-head record against Dixon across 120 shared races was 32 ahead to 88 behind, and against Castroneves 36 to 83.[1]
Since 2017 his racing has been based in amateur and semi-professional competition; NASA endurance racing for Porsche in 2017 and onwards, where he has taken five podiums in 36 starts, and PCA Club Racing, where he has won twice from 36 starts with 12 podiums. These are his only active series in recent years, with his most recent results from 2025 showing a single podium finish from two rounds of PCA Club Racing. The biographical record notes his achievements included the IF3000 championship in 2001 and co-victory in the 2012 24 Hours of Daytona; his current focus is on club and regional competition rather than the professional circuits of his earlier career.[2]
