Helio Castroneves is an established professional racing driver, FIA Platinum graded, competing part-time in the IndyCar Series for Meyer Shank Racing and full-time in the Stock Car Pro Series for Mercado Livre Racing. He has raced consistently across 26 seasons since 2001, accumulating 387 starts across multiple series including IMSA WeatherTech endurance racing in prototype and hybrid prototype classes. His career peaked with the 2006 IndyCar championship and the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech championship with Acura Team Penske.[1]

Castroneves won 25 races across 319 IndyCar starts between 2001 and 2026, running primarily on oval circuits where he took 209 of those starts. He collected 84 podiums in the series, establishing himself as a regular front-runner despite never repeating his 2006 title. In IMSA endurance racing from 2017 to 2023, he won 10 races from 34 starts with Meyer Shank Racing, finishing on the podium in 18 of those events. More recently, he entered stock car racing, making his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2025 and competing in the full Stock Car Pro Series season.[2]

In IndyCar, Castroneves regularly raced against Scott Dixon, a five-time series champion, remaining closely matched throughout their years as opponents. He also finished ahead of Alex Palou on seven occasions, placing him among the competition faced by that elite professional despite Palou's dominance in the series from 2021 onward. His record in IMSA placed him among drivers competing at the sport's full-professional level in multiclass endurance racing. Currently, he sits 23rd in the Stock Car Pro Series standings through twelve completed rounds of the ongoing 2026 season.
