Christian Lundgaard is an elite professional racing driver competing in IndyCar for Arrow McLaren, where he drives car number 7. A Gold-graded driver, he has spent most of his career in single-seaters across the open-wheel ladder, from Formula Renault through Formula 2 and onto IndyCar, where he has raced since 2021.[1]

Lundgaard took two wins and nine podiums across 49 Formula 2 starts with ART Grand Prix between 2019 and 2021, including a pair of victories in 2021. In his breakthrough IndyCar season of 2021 he was named Rookie of the Year. He has since accumulated three wins and 16 podiums across 88 IndyCar starts, with his results concentrated on road and street courses; 52 of his 88 starts have come on those layouts rather than ovals. In the ongoing 2026 IndyCar season, he holds third in the championship standings with two wins and seven podiums so far from 18 rounds raced.[2]

Lundgaard's regular IndyCar opposition includes Marcus Armstrong, an established professional and fellow Gold-graded driver, against whom he runs closely matched; and Alex Palou, a five-time IndyCar champion and the series' strongest driver, against whom Lundgaard typically finishes behind. He has on occasion finished ahead of much stronger drivers, among them Oscar Piastri, a generational talent now competing in Formula 1, though Piastri has beaten him substantially more often in head-to-head racing. Lundgaard and Palou have split their encounters across multiple seasons of IndyCar racing.
