🇸🇪 Marcus Ericsson

Marcus Ericsson is an established professional racing driver with a Platinum FIA grading, competing full-time in the IndyCar Series for Andretti Global. He drives the No. 28 Dallara-Honda and has been a regular fixture in American open-wheel racing since 2019. His career spans nineteen seasons across multiple championships; he competed in Formula 1 from 2014 to 2018, primarily with Sauber, and raced in GP2 Series and Formula 3 earlier in his career.[1]

Across 301 career starts, Ericsson has taken eight wins and 27 podiums. His single most prominent achievement is winning the Indianapolis 500 in 2022 with Chip Ganassi Racing. In IndyCar, his primary series, he has taken five wins and 13 podiums from 131 starts, mixing road and street course racing with oval competition; he runs roughly two-thirds of his IndyCar starts on road and street circuits. His Formula 1 career yielded 97 starts and no victories. In 2026, his current season, he leads the championship standings in eighth place after seventeen rounds with one win and two podiums so far.[2]

He has a closely matched record against Romain Grosjean, a fellow Platinum-graded driver and 2011 GP2 champion with extensive experience across open-wheel categories, and a similarly competitive head-to-head against Alexander Rossi, another established professional with over 180 IndyCar starts. In his Formula 1 years he occasionally finished ahead of drivers who went on to dominant careers; he beat Max Verstappen, now a four-time Formula 1 champion, four times in their overlapping season, and finished ahead of Charles Leclerc, another generational talent, three times.
