Peter Revson was an American Formula 1 driver who competed in the sport between 1964 and 1974, achieving two race wins and eight podium finishes across 30 starts. His career spanned five seasons during an era dominated by multiple world champions. Revson's average finishing position of P5.8 across classified races placed him at a professional standard; his Racer Rating of 5,214 situated him among the capable midfield drivers of his era, with occasional flashes of competitive strength against front-runners.[1]

Revson's record against the field reveals a driver capable of matching established competitors but lacking consistency against the very best. He finished ahead of three-time champion Jackie Stewart in four of thirteen meetings, and beat five-time front-running driver Carlos Reutemann seven times. However, his head-to-head records against the strongest drivers of his era tell a different story; against 1974 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, also a two-time title winner, Revson finished ahead only five times in sixteen races. Similarly, he managed four wins against Jackie Stewart but trailed the Scot in nine encounters. Against Denny Hulme, a former world champion, the record was nearly even at nine ahead and eight behind. His most competitive match came against contemporary Ronnie Peterson, where Revson held the edge with eight finishes ahead to five behind across their thirteen shared races.[2]

The bulk of Revson's career was spent with McLaren, which fielded him for 23 of his 30 starts. His final two Formula 1 races in 1974 yielded no points, and he subsequently retired from the sport. His two Grand Prix victories and pole position history remained part of Formula 1 record after his career ended.
