Frederik Vesti is an established professional racing driver competing in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship for Cadillac Whelen, where he races LMP2 prototypes. Platinum-graded for endurance racing, he came through single-seater championships in Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula 2 with Prema Racing before moving to prototype racing in 2024. He serves as a reserve driver for Mercedes in Formula One.[1]
Vesti won the 2023 Formula 2 championship with Prema Racing, taking seven wins across a two-season campaign in the series. In Formula 3 he scored four wins across two seasons with ART Grand Prix. His earlier single-seater record includes three wins in ADAC Formula 4 and two in Italian F4. Since moving to sports cars in 2024, he has taken three wins and six podiums in thirteen IMSA starts, along with two podiums across six European Le Mans Series rounds in the LMP2 class.[2]
In single-seaters, Vesti proved closely matched against established professionals including Enzo Fittipaldi, a 2018 Italian F4 champion with substantial Formula 2 and Formula 3 experience, and Jack Doohan, a Platinum-graded driver with sixty Formula 2 starts. He finished ahead of Oscar Piastri, a generational talent who went on to win the 2021 Formula 2 championship and race in Formula One, on six occasions during their shared single-seater seasons, and outpaced elite professional Isack Hadjar, who competed in Formula One and Formula 2, across multiple meetings.
