🇨🇭 Jo Siffert

Jo Siffert was an established professional racing driver who competed in Formula 1 as a solo driver across ten seasons from 1962 to 1971. He drove primarily for Lotus-Ford, taking the grid against a field that mixed amateurs with graded professionals in the sport's premier single-seater championship. His career yielded 97 starts, two wins and six podiums.[1]

Siffert's record in Formula 1 showed sustained competence against the elite field of his era. He finished fourth in the championship in 1971, his final season, which brought one of his two career wins and two podiums across the eleven rounds that year. Over his decade in the series he was regularly matched against established professionals; he split results evenly with Graham Hill, a two-time Formula 1 champion, and raced closely with John Surtees, the 1964 champion. He also took scalps against stronger opposition, finishing ahead of Jim Clark four times and twice outpointing Jackie Stewart, both of whom would become multiple world champions.[2]
