🇻🇪 E.J. Viso

E.J. Viso was an established professional racing driver who competed in IndyCar as a solo driver between 2008 and 2013 for Andretti Autosport and other teams. He made 102 starts across six seasons, racing a national field that mixed amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals. The bulk of his racing came on ovals, where he contested 63 of his 102 starts; the remainder were on road and street courses.[1]

Viso finished 17th in the IndyCar championship standings in 2013, his final season. Across his six years in the series he took a single podium. He was a regular opponent for established professionals including Scott Dixon, a six-time IndyCar champion, and Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2012 IndyCar champion; he typically finished behind both. He beat four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti on 17 occasions and 2017 and 2019 IndyCar champion Josef Newgarden on 15 occasions, though both drivers finished ahead of him far more often.[2]

Viso had raced in GP2 before IndyCar, competing in the 2005 and 2006 seasons and returning for a third campaign in 2007. After his IndyCar career ended in 2013 he made a single start in Stadium Super Trucks at Long Beach in 2014.
