Renger van der Zande is a Dutch sportscar driver rated 5,937, placing him in the established professional tier. This means van der Zande competes consistently at the top level of sportscar racing and regularly wins in the strongest fields available. He holds an FIA Platinum grading, denoting a full professional in endurance and GT racing. His defining achievement is the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech Prototype Challenge championship, won alongside co-driver Alex Popow.[1]

Van der Zande has spent the bulk of his professional career in IMSA WeatherTech competition, where he has made 98 starts for Acura Meyer Shank Racing and accumulated 17 wins and 39 podiums across a decade of racing. His rivals in that series have been consistently strong; he has raced extensively against multiple IMSA champions including Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, and more recently Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron, each holding several titles in various IMSA classes. Against these peers, van der Zande's record is broadly competitive rather than dominant. He has raced 89 times against Taylor, finishing ahead 42 times but behind 47; against Albuquerque across 85 shared races he has 40 wins to 45 losses. He has beaten occasional higher-rated drivers in isolated instances, including ten victories over Nico Hülkenberg, the 2008 Formula 3 Euro champion. Away from IMSA, van der Zande contested Formula 3 Euro Series racing in the late 2000s with Motopark Academy, taking 4 wins and 8 podiums from 43 starts. His World Endurance Championship career, begun in 2012 with DKR Engineering, spans 20 starts without a win or podium finish. Van der Zande remains active as of 2026, continuing with Acura Meyer Shank Racing in IMSA competition and most recently recording a podium at Watkins Glen.[2]
