Michael Lewis, born in Laguna Beach, California, came up through a wide range of racing disciplines before settling into his current campaign in the SCCA Runoffs. His early career included stints in Formula 3, Formula BMW, Ford Focus Midgets, touring cars, late model stock cars, quarter midgets, and go-karts, reflecting a broad grounding in American grassroots and open-wheel racing. Notably, Lewis was given the opportunity to test a Formula One car for Scuderia Ferrari in the F60 chassis in November 2011, a rare experience for a driver of his background. That diverse apprenticeship has informed the versatility he continues to show in club-level competition.[1]

In the SCCA Runoffs, Lewis has posted 2 wins and 5 podiums from 13 career starts, though he has yet to secure a championship.
