Marcel Fayen was an amateur racing driver who competed in International GT from 2022 until his death in late 2023. His record spanned two seasons and twenty-seven starts, yielding six wins and nineteen podiums. He finished on average in third place, a strong result within his field. His 2022 season was notably successful, culminating in a championship; his 2023 campaign yielded five podiums across nine rounds as he finished seventh in points.[1]
Fayen's competitive standing sat at the upper edge of club racing. His head-to-head record against the field showed clear strengths and weaknesses. He dominated lower-rated rivals such as Nicholas Groombridge, Albert Lukazik and Tim Haines, finishing ahead of them in the vast majority of shared races. Against mid-level professionals, however, the picture was mixed. He beat the 1-time champion Lukas Pank nine times in eleven meetings, a strong pattern. Against Scott Blind, an FIA Bronze-graded four-time champion, he finished ahead only twice in ten races, establishing a clear gap between their respective capabilities. Single victories over stronger professionals such as Mike Skeen and Steve Dunn represented occasional bright moments rather than a consistent threat to that tier.
Fayen was killed in a crash at Daytona International Speedway on 31 October 2023 during a club racing weekend.
