Matias Podboj was a competitive amateur racer with a Racer Rating of 2,480, placing him in club racing and regional competition; this level encompasses real competition licences in fields that do not consistently include full professionals. His career spanned from 2010 to 2018 and consisted of seven starts across the SKUSA SuperNationals, a kart racing programme that brought together drivers from varying levels of experience and achievement. He did not win any races or finish on a podium across those seven appearances.[1]

Podboj's head-to-head record in the fields he raced demonstrated the competitive spread typical of amateur kart racing. He finished consistently in the midfield, averaging 20th place across his classified starts. His most frequent rivals included drivers of mixed standing; against Billy Musgrave and Joey Wimsett he struggled to finish ahead, but he beat Milan Dontje, an FIA Silver graded driver, once, and also recorded a single top finish over Marco Andretti, who held FIA Gold status.
