Rodrigo Fonseca is a professional-level single-seater driver from Mexico. His indexed racing ran from 2011 to 2013 in kart supernational competition and 2014 to 2015 in the GB3 championship, where he drove for Lanan Racing. He is now retired.[1]
Fonseca made 42 starts in GB3 across two seasons and took two wins and nine podiums, one of those wins coming from 15th on the grid in wet conditions at Silverstone. His results placed him in regular competition with established drivers; he finished behind 2015 GB3 champion Will Palmer more often than not but remained closely matched with semi-professional rival Jordan Albert. He also made three starts in the SKUSA SuperNationals in 2011 and 2012, racing in the S1 Pro Stock Moto and S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto classes.[2]
The field in GB3 during his seasons included drivers who would reach the highest levels of international motorsport. Fonseca finished ahead of George Russell, then the reigning 2014 GB3 champion, once across their races together, and ahead of Alex Palou once; both would go on to professional careers of far greater prominence. His most consistent performances came in his second GB3 season, when he took the majority of his podium finishes, though he remained a mid-field regular among a grid that included emerging professionals and established semi-professional competitors.
