Matthew Wyatt is a competitive amateur racing solo in a national multiclass sprint championship. He competes in the SCCA Regionals, where he races spec Mazda MX-5 Miatas and production-based cars with limited modifications across the ITA, ITX and SM classes. His rating of 1,995 places him among competitive amateurs; drivers at this level finish consistently in the front half of regional fields and regularly podium against club-level regulars.[1]
Wyatt has accumulated 16 wins and 42 podiums across 82 starts since 2022. The bulk of his racing has come in SCCA Regionals, where he has won five times this season from 12 rounds raced and sits 11th in the championship standings. He added six starts in NASA's Spec Miata class in 2025 and 2026, a multiclass field that draws semi-professional and entry-level professional drivers, and made two appearances in SCCA Majors in 2023. His record shows consistent front-running form in regional racing; he has finished ahead of Reinhold Krahn, an entry-level professional and FIA Bronze-graded driver who competes in national championships and endurance racing, and once beat Mateo Siderman, the 2026 World Racing League GP1 East champion.[2]
Wyatt races regularly against Scott Story and Ross Lindell, both club-level drivers with extensive SCCA Regionals experience, and runs closely matched with each. His wins have come against the drivers he meets most often in the regional multiclass grid, and his occasional results against stronger professionals suggest he operates comfortably in the upper tier of the amateur field.
