Michael Cummings competed in club and regional racing across three seasons from 2018 to 2021, accumulating 34 starts with 3 podiums but no wins. He raced primarily in Mazda Miata machinery, competing in NASA events from 2018 through 2019 before a brief appearance in SCCA Majors competition in 2021. His Racer Rating of 762 places him in the developing category, describing a driver with consistent racing experience but results that do not yet demonstrate competitive strength against established opposition.[1]

Cummings finished ahead of several drivers who went on to win regional and national championships, including Wyatt Couch, a 2022 NASA Spec Miata champion beaten on six occasions, and Jared Korth, winner of the 2025 SCCA Regionals SMT title, beaten seven times. However, his head-to-head record against stronger contemporaries tells a different story. He finished behind Justin Casey, a much stronger professional-level driver, in 23 of 28 shared races, and was regularly outpaced by Tony Senese and Laura Braverman, trailing both in the majority of their meetings. His average finishing position of 17th place across all starts reflects a mid-field presence in the fields he contested.

The driver has since retired from racing and is not currently active in competition.
