Ray Middleman is a developing driver whose rating of 870 places him among club-level competitors; this represents racing in regional fields with limited professional presence, typically involving self-funded drivers competing for experience rather than prizes. His career spans two seasons of American Endurance Racing in 2016 and 2017, yielding six starts, one podium finish, and no wins. He finished 76th in the final 2017 standings. He is now retired from racing.[1]
Middleman's record against his peers shows mixed results typical of a driver at the entry level. He ran level with Olaaf Rossi, a club-rated competitor, finishing ahead in two of four shared races. Against semi-professional drivers, his record was weighted downward; he finished behind Alex Rubenstein, a multiple American Endurance Racing Class 4 champion, twice in three races, and behind Van Svenson and Kale Fortenberry in most of their encounters. His strongest performances came against established professionals: he finished ahead of Aristotle Balogh, an FIA Bronze sportscar driver rated 3,925, twice across their races, and beat Gregory Liefooghe, an FIA Silver driver rated 3,848, on two occasions. These isolated results against much stronger opposition stand out against a broader pattern of finishing behind semi-professional and professional fields.
