Schmidt is a competitive amateur racer competing in multiclass endurance and sprint racing across national championships. Rated 2,305, he holds an FIA Bronze grade, placing him among amateur and gentleman drivers typically racing alongside professionals. His primary home is TPC Racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North American series, where he races Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo cars in amateur and cup classes.[1]

Schmidt's indexed career runs from 2019 to the present across four series. His strongest output comes from Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA, where he has started 25 times for TPC Racing with one win and seven podiums since 2020. American Endurance Racing, racing shared-driver Huracán and production-based cars across Classes 3, 4 and 5 from 2019 to 2021, brought two wins and nine podiums from 14 starts. He has made smaller appearances in NASA's solo Sprint racing, where he ran one season with seven Super Unlimited starts in 2019 and 2020, and most recently joined World Racing League in 2026, where he has taken one podium from two GTO-class starts so far this season.[2]

Against Randy Sellari, a 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo LB Cup champion with 30 starts in that series, Schmidt usually finishes behind him. Andrew Wikstrom, a Silver-graded semi-professional and two-time American Endurance Racing champion with 56 starts there, is another consistent opponent who typically outfinishes him. Schmidt has beaten professional-level competition on occasion: he finished ahead of Nick Persing, a Silver-graded driver with 30 Formula Regional Americas starts and 36 in Lamborghini Super Trofeo, once, and ahead of Giano Taurino, the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA Pro champion, once. TPC Racing has fielded 27 drivers across its indexed record, with its strongest being Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, a professional.
