Steven Bassen competed in BMW CCA Club Racing, a multiclass national championship mixing amateur and semi-professional drivers across eight classes, from 2004 to 2009. He raced in the CM class, piloting BMWs in ten starts across his indexed record. He reached club level, the foundation of competitive racing.[1]
Bassen took four wins and six podiums from his ten starts, winning the 2004 BMW CCA Club Racing championship. His final season, 2009, brought one podium from two rounds and a nineteenth-place finish in the championship standings. His record against regular opponents was closely matched with Andy Watts, a club-level driver who had raced the series significantly more often; Bassen finished ahead of Watts four times across their meetings. He regularly outfinished Gerald Mulvaney, a developing-level driver with ten starts in the series. Among the stronger drivers in the field, Peter Carroll had contested eighty-eight starts in BMW CCA Club Racing; Bassen beat Carroll once.[2]
