Steven Bessett is a club-level driver racing in multiclass amateur and semi-professional championships in the United States. He competes in NASA, a national series running 15 classes together in single-driver sprint racing, and has recently moved to SCCA Regionals, which runs 25 classes on the same format. In NASA he races Spec Miata and Super Touring 2 machinery; in SCCA Regionals he races the FP class.[1]
Bessett has raced continuously since 2008, taking six wins and eleven podiums across 35 NASA starts over fifteen seasons before joining SCCA Regionals this year. In his first six rounds of SCCA Regionals racing, he has won twice and taken five podiums, currently sitting sixth in the championship standings with more rounds to come.[2]
His regular opposition in NASA includes Paul Redante, a club-level driver with 131 starts in the series, against whom Bessett runs closely matched. He has typically finished behind Chris Graham, a competitive amateur with 97 NASA starts and additional endurance racing experience. In single meetings Bessett has beaten Dean Lambros, a semi-professional with 34 NASA starts and additional circuit racing credentials, and Joe Fuchs, a semi-professional with experience across BMW CCA, American Endurance Racing and NASA.
