Tony Lavanant is a competitive amateur karter, rated 2,603; his level means he competed consistently in club and regional karting fields, occasionally mixing with paid professionals in shared events. His recorded career spans three seasons from 2008 to 2010 in the SKUSA SuperNationals, a major North American karting championship, where he made three starts without securing a podium finish. His average finishing position across classified starts stood at 13th place.[1]

In his shared races against the most frequent rivals in the SKUSA SuperNationals field, Lavanant was competitive but not dominant. He finished ahead of professional-rated driver Ron White on two of three occasions they raced together, a solid head-to-head record; against Marco Ardigo and Gary Carlton, both competitive amateurs, he finished ahead once and behind twice.
