Tyler Thomas competed in karting at the SKUSA SuperNationals level in 2008, the only season on his racing record. Across two starts he secured one podium finish, placing him in the competitive amateur band at a Racer Rating of 2,094. This level of performance represents the front of club racing; a driver quick and organised enough to race seriously and score results, but without the consistency or field strength to progress into professional ranks.[1]
The single podium result saw Thomas finish ahead of several drivers who would go on to establish themselves at much higher levels. He beat Gustavo Menezes, who became an FIA Gold-graded professional and 2016 WEC LMP2 champion; Alec Udell, later an FIA Silver professional and 2024 GT World Challenge America Pro champion; and Trent Hindman, an FIA Gold professional with multiple IMSA titles. These were one-off results in a small sample, however, and Thomas's average finish of fourth place across his two races reflects the limited scale of his career on record. He retired after 2008 and did not return to organised racing.[2]
