GT America is a multi-class sprint series running GT3, GT4, SRO GT2 and one-make cup cars. The field draws chiefly from IMSA Pilot Challenge, a series of comparable strength, and from club and regional racing; George Kurtz and Memo Gidley lead a roster of amateur and gentleman drivers. The series functions as a stepping stone upward, with its strongest drivers graduating to GT World Challenge America, and sits in the middle tier of North American sports-car racing. It was launched in 1990.
