🏳️ Chip Herr

Chip Herr is a competitive amateur racing solo in SCCA national championships; a field mixing amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals across 25 classes per race. He races primarily in SCCA Regionals, where he competes in Mazda Miatas and production-based performance cars in the SSM, STU and T3 classes, and also contests SCCA Majors and the Runoffs in STU and higher classes.[1]

Across six seasons from 2021 to 2026, Herr has taken 11 wins and 23 podiums from 28 starts. In SCCA Regionals he has won five times and finished on the podium in 12 of 16 starts. His SCCA Majors record spans six races with four wins and six podiums; in the Runoffs he has won twice in six attempts and taken five podiums. His most recent activity is the 2025 Runoffs, where he has competed in two rounds to date and taken one podium.[2]

Herr typically finishes ahead of his regular opponents, including John Hotz, a 2023 SCCA Regionals SM champion with 151 starts in that series, and James Roberts, a developing driver and 2008 NASA GTS4 champion. He has beaten Camden Gruber, an entry-level professional with 55 SCCA Majors starts and a 2021 NASA Spec Miata title, once in their meetings, and Brian Henderson, an entry-level professional with 45 NASA starts and experience in IMSA Pilot Challenge, once as well.
