David Tooker is a competitive amateur driver whose racing career spans five seasons and 66 starts across national single-driver championships in the United States. He raced primarily in NASA's multiclass series from 2019 to 2023, piloting a Spec Miata, and made a brief appearance in the Spec MX-5 Challenge in 2023 before retiring. His record of one win and 14 podiums came against a field mixing amateurs and semi-professionals with occasional graded professionals.[1]

Tooker's most extensive tenure was in NASA, where he completed 64 starts over five seasons and took one win alongside 13 podium finishes. He finished ahead of regular opponents including Tony Senese and Stephen McHenry, both developing drivers with substantial NASA experience, in the majority of their meetings. His sole win came in a series contested by drivers ranging from club level to established professionals, and he recorded podium finishes against stronger opposition; he beat Dean Thompson, a professional with 70 NASCAR Truck starts and 63 NASCAR Xfinity starts, on three occasions, and finished ahead of Kyle Kaiser, a professional driver graded FIA Gold and the 2017 Indy NXT champion, once.[2]

Tooker raced for a well-established Spec Miata operation that fielded a large roster and accumulated substantial wins across the index, its most accomplished driver being an entry-level professional. His transition to the Spec MX-5 Challenge in 2023 lasted only two rounds, yielding one podium finish.
