James Keown is a competitive amateur racing in multiclass club and endurance championships in the United States. He competes in American Endurance Racing, where he shares a production-based car in Class 2, 3 or 4 machinery across a mixed field of amateurs and professionals, and in BMW CCA Club Racing, where he races solo in BMW competition machinery. His most recent activity is BMW CCA Club Racing and SCCA Majors, where he races high-performance production cars in the T1 class.[1]

Keown has raced for seven seasons from 2017 onwards. In American Endurance Racing he has taken one win and eight podiums from 22 starts across the multiclass grid. In BMW CCA Club Racing, where he races more frequently, he has won three times and podiumed fifteen times from 22 starts, placing him among the regular front-runners in his classes. He added two starts in SCCA Majors in 2023.[2]

His record against the regulars he meets most often shows him closely matched with Job Nieman, a competitive amateur with substantial BMW club and endurance racing experience, while he usually finishes ahead of Johannes Nieman, a club-level driver with similar series credentials. He has beaten entry-level professionals including Preston Brown, an IMSA Pilot Challenge regular with 45 starts in that series, on multiple occasions, and Alexandru Vasilescu, a FIA Bronze-graded driver with 39 American Endurance Racing starts, once. His success in BMW CCA Club Racing has made him a consistent podium finisher in solo competition against a field spanning amateurs to graded professionals.
