Thomas König is a competitive amateur racing in multiclass endurance championships in Germany and internationally. He races Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a national series where two or more drivers share each car across a full season, and made a single international appearance in the 24H Series, a 13-country endurance championship mixing amateur and professional competitors in eleven classes.[1]
König raced five seasons from 2013 to 2018, with thirteen starts in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and one appearance in the 24H Series, which yielded a podium finish. His best championship finish came in 2018, when he placed thirteenth in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie standings. He was closely matched with Bill Cameron, a fellow competitive amateur, but typically finished behind Tim Scheerbarth, an entry-level professional and multiple-time series champion in the Cup 2 and SP 7 classes.[2]
König finished ahead of Vincent Kolb, a professional with sixty-two starts in the Nürburgring series and extensive endurance racing experience, on at least one occasion, and beat Philipp Neuffer, another professional in the same championship, three times across their meetings. His racing came against a field of amateurs and semi-professionals with a regular presence of graded professionals in shared-car competition.
